Water Treatment & Wastewater Engineering
Water is simultaneously a critical utility, a potential environmental stressor, and a source of significant operational cost. BEMC’s Water Treatment Services provide complete engineering, analytical, and regulatory support across the entire water cycle—from source water assessment and treatment plant design to effluent polishing and zero liquid discharge. Our engineers specialize in both greenfield installations and the rehabilitation of underperforming assets, applying chemical, biological, and physical process expertise to maximize hydraulic throughput, removal efficiency, and energy optimization.
Treatment Infrastructure & Engineering
WWTP Design & Optimization
We deliver complete design packages for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mechanical equipment selection, civil and structural design inputs, and control philosophy. Our process expertise spans conventional activated sludge, membrane bioreactors, sequencing batch reactors, dissolved air flotation, and advanced oxidation. Optimization studies for existing plants include hydraulic bottleneck analysis, aeration system upgrades, and dynamic modeling to reduce energy consumption while meeting tightened discharge limits.
Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Solution
A turnkey ETP offering that begins with a Baseline Study characterizing effluent flow, composition, and variability over multiple production cycles. Where organic sludges will be produced, Compost Sampling and stability analysis assess feasibility for beneficial co-composting. The subsequent design phase produces a fully detailed engineering package, followed by Equipment Supply, including clarifiers, filter presses, oil-water separators, and chemical dosing skids. BEMC technicians manage Installation and Commissioning, performing hydrotesting, loop checks, and performance acceptance trials before handing over a stabilized, fully documented plant.
Treatment System Upgrades
Many existing facilities can achieve targeted improvements without full replacement. We conduct diagnostic process audits, pilot testing of alternative chemistries or membranes, and retrofits such as fine-bubble diffusers, variable frequency drives, and automated controls, delivering higher effluent quality and reduced operating expenditure.
Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD)
For industries operating in water-scarce basins or under stringent discharge prohibitions, we design ZLD systems integrating high-recovery reverse osmosis, brine concentrators, forced-circulation evaporators, and crystallizers. The result is a dry solids cake suitable for disposal and a high-purity distillate returned to process use, eliminating liquid emission entirely.
Water Quality & Resource Management
Water Quality Testing
Our laboratories analyze physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters following APHA standard methods, covering pH, conductivity, TDS, TSS, BODâ‚…, COD, nitrogen species, total phosphorus, heavy metals, oil and grease, phenol, coliforms, and E. coli. We provide both accredited reporting for compliance and rapid process-control data for operational tuning.
Effluent Analysis
Specialized analysis of industrial effluents identifies potentially inhibitory compounds, bio-accumulative substances, and the treatability profile, enabling targeted process selection—whether biological, chemical precipitation, or activated carbon polishing.
NEQS Compliance Support
We interpret national effluent and emission standards, assess plant performance against parameter-specific limits, and prepare compliance demonstration dossiers for regulator submissions, negotiating consent conditions during permit renewals and modifications.
Water Balance Studies
A detailed quantitative map of all water inflows (utility supply, groundwater, tankered), consumption points (process, cooling, washdown, domestic), losses (evaporation, leaks), and outflows (treated effluent, reject streams) identifies cost-effective conservation opportunities and provides the data skeleton for reuse feasibility studies.
Water Conservation
Building on the water balance, we design water efficiency programs including closed-loop cooling, cascading reuse between high- and low-quality demand applications, rainwater capture and storage, and implementation of water-efficient appliances and leak detection systems.
